On Saturday October 29th 2016, Breguet is celebrating the exclusive preview showing of the exhibition titled "Marie-Antoinette, a Queen in Versailles", on view at the Mori Arts Center Gallery, in Tokyo, from October 25th 2016 to February 26th 2017.

Organized by the Château de Versailles and supported by Breguet, this retrospective is the first time that a complete evocation of the queen's life is being presented in Japan. In special tribute to the exceptional ties between the last queen of France and the Maison Breguet, two creations inspired by her universe are to be unveiled at this gala evening.

The choice of Japan for this retrospective is no coincidence, since it is the nation beyond France itself where the historical figure of Marie-Antoinette enjoys the greatest popularity.

To provide guests with a chance to learn more about the privileged commercial ties that Breguet enjoyed with Marie-Antoinette, the Maison is presenting a dedicated module from its roadshow "Breguet, a Story among the Greats". The extent of the influence that the last queen of France had on creations by the watchmaker and more generally on those of her era is illustrated by pocket watch No. 1160.

This iconic model is a reproduction of the "Marie-Antoinette" No. 160, a timepiece ordered from A.-L. Breguet in 1783 for the queen, and which for almost a century remained the most complicated model ever made.

The watch is on display for two days at the Mori Arts Center Gallery, starting November 2nd, the sovereign's birthday. From November 4th to 6th, it is making a stopover at the Breguet Boutique in Tokyo, before returning to Switzerland.

Thanks.
