300th Anniversary of the Birth of Pierre Jaquet-Droz
This year, the Maison celebrates the birth of its watchmaking founder, exactly 300 years ago on July 28, 1721. For this occasion, the Grande Seconde Moon has been reimagined in two exclusive anniversary editions. The Grande Seconde Moon, which has previously been available in 43mm and 39mm versions, is now joined by a 41mm version.
Jaquet Droz has equipped it with an in-house development that gives its Moonphase unparalleled accuracy.
Known as the Mechanism 135, it considerably reduces the usual margins of error of the Moonphase display and only requires a single adjustment every 122 years. This is as close as possible to a real synodic revolution (29 days, 12 hours and 45 minutes for the Grande Seconde Moon, for an actual revolution of 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.8 seconds), this Mechanism 135, resting on a 135-tooth lunar disk (instead of the usual 59) guarantees the piece an age-old precision that can be adjusted with a stylus, using an invisible corrector hidden in the case at 8 o'clock.
Technical Specifications:
The case, in 18kt red gold, measures 41mm x 12.9mm. It has an AR-coated sapphire crystal, a sapphire display back, and it is water resistant to 30 meters. "Pierre Jaquet-Droz, 300ème Anniversaire" engraved on the caseback.
Movement is the Swiss automatic Jaquet Droz in-house caliber 2660QL4 with 30 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 68 hours. It features a silicon balance spring and pallet horns, double barrels, and an 18kt red gold rotor.
Double-level ivory Grand Feu or matte black dial with 18kt red gold applied ring showing off-centered hours and minuste, large off-centered seconds. 18kt red gold appliques. Pointer-type date display at 6 o'clock and astronomical moonphase at 6 o'clock. Hands in 18kt red gold. Blued steel moon disc, star and moon appliques in 18kt red gold or matte black moon disc, star and moon appliques in 18kt red gold.
It comes on a rolled-edge hand-made dark blue or black alligator leather strap with an 18kt red gold ardillon buckle.
