The Patek Philippe Ref. 6007A limited-edition celebrates the opening of the Patek Philippe flagship "PP6 Building" at the manufacturing campus in Plan-les-Ouates. As previously reported, the PP6 Building is a state-of-the-art 10-story, 50,000-square meter complex that consolidates under one roof the many workshops and offices that were previously spread throughout the canton of Geneva.
Specifically, everything in the old PP5 Building is relocated into the new PP6 Building. In addition, workshops such as the 3-story case and bracelet-making facilities in Perly (about 5km away), are relocated into the second floor of the new PP6 Building. The new Rare Handcrafts department that accommodates 40 artisans are relocated in the third floor of the new PP6 Building. The PP6 Building also has space for a larger watchmaking institute to meet the company's training needs, everything from basic to advancing training skills. For example, with the new space large enough for all the tools, equipment and employees, Patek Philippe started a new internal training program for more employees to learn the hand-polishing techniques required to finish the intricate surfaces of a Patek Philippe case and bracelet.
Crowning the PP6 Building rooftop is the penthouse restaurant run by Chef Jean-Michel Duvin, Chef de Cuisine chez Patek Philippe. The penthouse restaurant accommodates 880 guests, with an outdoor terrace with panoramic views that overlook Lake Geneva.
The campus also has its own two-level underground parking facilities to adequately provide parking for 635 vehicles in a city with notoriously restrictive parking regulations.
To commemorate this august occasion, Patek Philippe created the stainless steel Calatrava Ref. 6007A with gray-blue carbon pattern sector dial.
The 6007A features a 40mm polished steel case and polished cambered bezel. The gray-blue dial features white gold applied Arabic numerals coated with luminescence, a railway track scale of the hour circle with triangular markers, a carbon fiber pattern embossed at the center of the dial, and white gold white lacquered pierced baton hands. The 6007A is fitted with a caliber 324 S C automatic movement with date at 3 o'clock.
There is every detail to attention, including an embossed gray-blue calfskin strap with white topstitch seams that complement the sporty chic aesthetic of the dial. The sapphire-crystal caseback is etched with "New Manufacture 2019" inscription, the year when the first work groups moved into the PP6 Building.
The Ref. 6007A is produced in a limited edition of 1,000, and retails for $28,351.
