Rebellion continues its quest for performance and takes us off the beaten track with a surprising evolution of the Weap- One unveiled in 2017. Its asymmetrical 60-second flying tourbillon is transformed thanks to the use of a high-tech material: the synthetic diamond. A judicious use of sapphire crystal offers this mechanical masterpiece to be literally highlighted at the heart of the WEAP-ONE Diamond Asymmetrical Flying Tourbillon.
Two wheel-nut crowns close its atypical cylinder-shaped case. In titanium on the original model, they are here machined from sapphire crystal. The one on the right allows the movement to be wound; the one on the left allows the time to be set. The hours and minutes are displayed using two rollers also machined from sapphire crystal and positioned on the ends of the case. Between the time information, an asymmetrical flying tourbillon with a rotation speed of 60 seconds evolves on several axes.
Rebellion turned to the Japanese company Adamant Namiki Precision, which uses a patented production method, at high pressure and high temperature, to produce this surprising flat atomic synthetic diamond. The Japanese company has opted for heteroepitaxy, a qualitative process by chemical vapour deposition, which allows thin layers a few nanometres thick to grow from the perfectly polished surface of a single crystal.
Technical Specifications:
The case, in titanium, measures 40mm x 25mm. It has a sapphire crystal, sapphire crowns, and it is water resistant to 1 meter (dust and splash). The case can be detached to transform it into a table clock or a pocket watch.
Movement is a Swiss manual-wind Rebellion in-house caliber with 67 jewels, 21,600 vph and a power reserve of 50 hours. Made in collaboration with Concepto and designed by Fabrice Gonet and Olivier Leu. It features 10 ball bearings and an asymmetrical 60-second flying tourbillon done made of synthetic diamonds. Functions are: hours and minutes displayed by two black rollers done in sapphire.
It comes on a black leather strap with a customizable folding clasp with unique engraving options.
