The Farer Bernina Hand-Wound Chronograph is the official timing watch of the 2019 Bernina Gran Turismo a race across the Swiss Alps, in which modern-era Formula cars and old-school classics compete over a 5.7 kilometer course between La Rösa and Hospizio Bernina, just outside St. Moritz. Inspired by the famous races held in the region in the 1920s and '30s, the race begins at an elevation of 6,138 feet before climbing 1,500 feet further, through 50 challenging curves.
Technical Specifications:
The case, in stainless steel, measures 41mm x 12.9mm. It has an AR-coated box-type sapphire crystal, a sapphire display back,a nd it is water resistant to 100 meters. White ceramic external fixed bezel with engraved tachymeter scale and infilled markings. The crown features a machined bronze inset cap with embossed Farer 'A'.
Movement is the Swiss manual-wind Sellita caliber SW510 BH Elabore with 17 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 58 hours. Skeleton framework, bespoke high end bridge with engraved Farer monogram chequered sports pattern. Functions are: hours, minutes, small seconds, 60 second chronograph, 30 minute counter at 3, 12 hour counter at 6.
Matte off-white main dial plate with brilliant white embossed twin sub-dials, racing red, brilliant blue and jet black markings, dashed hour markings with SuperLuminova. Internal telemetry scale. Racing red outlined, SuperLuminova Dauphine style hour/minute hands, racing red, blue sub-dial point hands.
It comes on a 20mm perforated black Barenia bridle leather strap with a steel buckle.
