Independent watchmaker David Lowinger continues his work with this prototype, the Series 2.

The entire manufacturing process from start to finish is carried out in-house by him in his one man atelier. The production will begin in the fourth quarter of 2019 and the manufacturing time will be 3-4 month per piece. The watch will be customizable. Blued hands, screws and various finishes on both the case and movement will be available if required by the customer.

The case, crown and buckle are made of 316 stainless steel, with satin finish and with the edges of the case chamfered by hand. It measures 45mm x 26mm. x 9.5mm. It has a flat AR-coated sapphire crystal, with a sapphire display back.

The movement is a manual wind regulator caliber (DL-S2R) with 17 jewels, 21,600 vph and a power reserve of 50 hours. It is completely designed and produced in-house. The mainplate and bridges are made out of German silver except the pallet bridge, which is stainless steel. Similarly to his first timepiece (link below), he uses some parts from an ETA 6498-2, like the going train, barrel and balance and a few other components. Most of these are refinished by hand and several of them are modified in order to suit his needs.

All together he manufactures over 55 components in-house, from scratch by hand including: the entire case, crown, buckle, mainplate, all of the bridges (seven bridge all together), cannon pinions, intermediate cannon pinions, hour wheel, setting wheels, yoke, setting lever jumper, setting lever, crown wheel, intermediate crown wheels, dials, hands, click, some custom screws, pins, and springs, et.al.

The edges of the bridges are bevelled and polished Anglage by hand, and they received either a straight or circular grain finishing. The top part of the mainplate is hand hammered, while the movement side of the mainplate received a Perlagefinishing. The dials are engraved using a manual milling machine, and to enhance readability the numbers are filled with black paint. The steel parts of the movement are polished by hand.

Thanks.
