EMC is a completely independent movement manufacturer which crafts high-quality mechanical calibers in Grenchen, in the Swiss Canton of Solothurn. Legendary milestones in history characterize its 160 years of technological leadership culminating in the EMC of today. In revolutionizing, automatic movements in 1948 with the invention of the ball-bearing-mounted rotor system, it set a standard by which all others are now measured. The Caliber 39 basic movement can be used to create more than 88 different movement versions thanks to its unique design.
Today, EMC is gaining worldwide recognition for its versatile Caliber 39 movement, in demand from north America, across Europe, to Asia. EMC strives for continuous improvement in production processes as well as in movement development and evolution. In planning for the future, it is important for EMC to invest in developing young talent, and to update them on the current and future developments of the Caliber 39.
For this reason, EMC has been engaged in close collaboration with a number of leading watchmaking schools and centers in Switzerland and the United States, with more collaborations planned in Europe and North America. This assures our customers, both brands and individuals, the possibilities of having their watches repaired within the same geographical area in which they were purchased, eliminating costly transfers and delays.
